Apparently, some Airmen decided to help their fellow junior
officers by showcasing several new, unofficial Force Shaping programs
that compliment the Blue to Green program.
BACKGROUND: In
early-2005, the Air Force met its fiscal year 2005 required end
strength. However, because the Air Force is still experiencing a
surplus in officers, particularly in the junior grades, the service
continues its force shaping efforts for young officers. One of
the programs that officers can take advantage of is call "Blue to
Green"," which allows them to leave the Air Force and continue their
commissions in the U.S. Army. Because a career in the Army would
be similar to a 20-year prison term for anyone who has spent at least
three seconds in the Air Force, and because anyone joining the Army
these days is almost guaranteed a one-year "vacation" in Baghdad, the
Blue to Green program has become -- to put it kindly -- one of least
attractive options.
Editor's note: This
material is not intended to make light of officers who are forced to
leave the Air Force. Nobody wants to see a member of their team
leave. The material does, for obvious reasons, poke fun at the Blue
to Green program. |
