| On March 6,
2003, this Air Force C-5 Galaxy landed at Norfolk Naval
Station on a runway overlooking Interstate 564.
Because it was dark, the pilot couldn't see the end of
the runway and decided to stop the giant plane to avoid
running off the flightline. When the aircraft
stopped, the crew was not able turn the aircraft around.
According to more information found on Snopes.com,
"Neither the Norfolk naval station nor Langley Air Force
Base in nearby Hampton had a tow bar big enough to use
with the C-5 Galaxy ... leaving the military transport
plane stuck above I-564 for more than 16 hours while a
special tow bar was trucked in from Dover Air Force base
in Delaware." For the full story, point your Web
